"Russell Connection": John Russell, a weaver, was born in Ireland about1765 and settled in Orange County, NC after the Rev. War. He married Elizabeth Webb and died before the 1840 census. They had 10 children, one of whom, William Russell, born in 1809, married Mrs. Jane Thompson Johnston, widow of George Johnston and daughter of John Thompson, in 1831. They went to Saline, County, AR in 1848. John Russell is often confused with Alexander Russell who lived in Orange County, NC at the same time. Alexander died in 1818 and is buried at Hawfields Presbytrian Cemetery. My John is probably buried at Center United Methodist Church Cemetery in what is now Chatham County, NC. Elizabeth Webb Russell and several of their children are buried there, and there are several unmarked graves.

"Russell Connection": I am a decendent of James Adron Russell, born 811, in Jefferson County, Tennessee. I am trying to find his parents who have been said to be William O. Russell and Rebecca. However, I have ben unable to verify that. I suspect that William was the first born son of Capt. John Russell and Rachel Hobbs. If anyone can help me locate this information I will very much appreciate it. I have a lengthy genealogy of this ranch of the Russell family reaching through Tennessee, southern Illinois and Arkansas.
