German "Hunting" Sword or
"Gentleman's" Hanger
(aka Dagger)

Elaborate German Hunting Sword, of a type commonly found in the Germanic countries from the 1700s into the 1900s; these are sometimes categorized as daggers.
These were used by "gentlemen" for personal protection and for delivering the finishing touches on wounded game in lieu of wasting more shot.
This example has a stag-horn hilt, gilt covered metal furniture.
They come in various blades, decorations, and sizes.

If you need further information concerning markings or blades, please post your questions to me directly via E-mail.
