Artillery Trooper's Saber
Circa 1871-1900


This is an Italian Model 1871 Artillery Trooper's Saber manufactured from the period of about 1871 to about 1900; various modifications are known. Blade is stamped ALEXANDER COPPEL / SOLINGEN bordering the logo of a scales; right side bears the hallmark ACS and scales. Cup/guard is stamped 110 on rear of knucklebow on this example (see images). Slightly curved single-edged blade with pipe-back; un-fullered (both sides). Overall length is ~41"; blade length is ~35".
