French Cavalry Officer's Saber
late 1800's

This was the standard French Cavalry Officer's Saber in in the late 1800's to early 1900's. It is very similar to the French Model 1882 Officer's Sword but is brass-hilted instead of nickel plate; additionally, the blade is curved whereas the M1882 is straight.

Manufactured at the Klingenthal arsenal in France and so marked on the blade back-edge near the hilt (see images).
