This is a scarce British Pattern 1885 Cavalry Trooper's Saber manufactured from the period of about 1885 to about 1895; various modifications are known. Unmarked except for what appears to be unit or rack number on the cup/guard above the grip (see images). Rudimentary Maltese Cross pierced into guard on forward of knuckle bow (see images).
Very slightly curved single-edged blade with squared back-edge; single fuller (both sides), unstopped.
Overall length is ~35"; blade length is ~28-1/2".
All steel construction with the exception of the checked pressed leather grips.
Fair condition overall; grips are cracked blade is pitted overall.
NOTE: No Scabbard.
