Patriarchs Militant (a branch of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows [IOOF]) fraternal sword with scabbard, manufactured by The Henderson-Ames Company of Kalamazoo, Michigan, circa 1893-1923. Comes with belt and hangers by Cincinnati Regalia Company of Cincinnati, Ohio, circa 1900-1920. Fair condition sword and scabbard; good condition belt and hangers. Sword pommel cap and "crown" are missing and guard is bent; leather grip wrap is almost all aged away; blade has light to moderate pitting overall. Scabbard appears to be free of dents but only has about 50% of its nickel plate remaining.
Overall length in scabbard is ~38-1/2"; overall length out of scabbard is ~36-3/4"; blade length is ~31".
Sword is named to what appears to be "C.B. Brunsdon" but I cannot be certain. This could be for Curtis Brunston. IOOF Grand Lodge of Indiana, circa 1910.
Included with this sword is the belt, buckle, four belt loops - two with chains and spring hooks, one with walking hook (this chain has one replacement link that is silver in color), one with a simple key-chain-hook. Metal belt loops bear the motto, "JUSTITIA UNIVERSALIS" (UNIVERSAL JUSTICE) over "PAX AUT BELLUM" (PEACE OR WAR). Buckle bears the letters "PM" for Patriarchs Militant. All metal components (save one link) are gold gilt plate (see images).
