French Model 1874 Gras Bayonet manufactured at the St. Etienne arsenal circa July 1877. Matching serial number bayonet and scabbard.
Brass pommel, wood grips, with a spring steel latching arrangement on the right side. The crossguard is iron (steel) and has a riveted non-adjustable muzzle-ring. The lower quillon is a hooked "blade-breaker" type. The straight blade is steel, triple-edged T-backed and un-fullered.
Overall length in scabbard is ~26"; overall length out of scbbard is ~25-1/2"; blade length is ~20-1/2". Blade is marked in script on the back-edge (opposite the cutting edge) with the arsenal, month, and year of manufacture; this is done in French engraved cursive fashion.

Good condition overall.
