This is a US Model 1917 "sword" bayonet, intended to fit the M1917/P17 rifles made by Winchester, Remington, and Remington-Eddystone. These were used in WWI and WWII. This particular bayonet is in a scarce early Type 1, Variation 1 scabbard with steel bar, leather loop, and riveted steel plate on the throat assembly (that utilizes the standard double belt hook on all models).
Overall length in scabbard is ~22-5/8"; overall length out of scabbard is ~21-3/4"; blade length is ~17" by ~15/16" wide by ~1/4" thick (at ricasso). Blade has been lightly sharpened (see images); fullered groove is ~12-1/4" in length. Blade markings are - 1917 / REMINGTON (in a circle); obverse - ordnance bomb over US, eagle head / '26. Wood grips with two grooves (each side); steel pommel and crossguard. The name "DAVE" is carved into the left grip. Good to Very good condition overall.
Price includes $25 shipping charges to Canada.
