Believed to be a rare French Model 1816 Foot Artillery Short Sword, unknown maker, unmarked, neo-classical design based on the Roman gladius, superceded by the French Model 1831 Foot Artillery Short Sword. The United States of America patterned their US Model 1832 after the French 1816 and 1831 as did the Confederate States of America during the Civil War.
Solid brass hilt with what appears to be un-marked. Overall length is ~25-1/8""; blade length is ~19-1/8". Blade is un-marked.
Good condition overall.
NOTE: No scabbard.
